Privacy Policy

What we never collect

  • File contents. Your document is never sent to us, so we could not read it even if we wanted to.
  • File names, page counts, or anything extracted from a document, including OCR text.
  • Saved signatures and images. These stay in your browser's local storage.
  • Recent files and recovery copies. These also stay in your browser's local storage.
  • An email address or any other identifier, because there is no account to create.

Analytics and tracking

There are none. This site runs no analytics product, no tag manager, no session recorder and no advertising or tracking pixel. Nothing here counts your visit or records which tool you used. The Security page shows you how to confirm that in your browser's network panel.

Earlier versions of this page described what analytics would record if they were switched on. That was hedged and unhelpful. The accurate statement is the one above. If analytics are ever added, this page will be updated before they are.

Your web host

Serving a web page is still a request over the internet. Like any website, the server that delivers this page receives your IP address, your browser and operating system version, the address you asked for and the time you asked for it. That is how the request reaches you at all, and it happens before any of our code runs.

We do not use that data to build a profile, we do not combine it with anything else, and it never contains your document because your document is never requested from a server.

Third parties

Two outside services are involved in loading this site. Neither receives your files, and neither sets a cookie here.

  • Google Fonts serves the two typefaces the interface is set in, and the handwriting faces offered when you type a signature. Google receives your IP address and browser version as part of serving those files. When you export from the editor with a Google font selected, the request for that font also lists the distinct characters used in the text you added or edited, so only the glyphs you need are downloaded. That is a set of characters with repeats removed, not your text and not your file.
  • jsDelivr serves the OCR language data, and only when you actually run OCR. The recognition engine itself is served from this site. The language file downloads once per language and is then cached by your browser.

Two features also fetch an address that you supply: HTML to PDF when you give it a web address, and adding a file by URL instead of from disk. In both cases your browser contacts that site directly, so it sees your request the way it would if you had opened the link yourself.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies at all. What it uses instead is described in the Cookie Policy.

Your local data, and how to remove it

Recovery copies, saved signatures and images, recent files and your last-used tool options are stored using your browser's IndexedDB and localStorage. They belong to your browser profile on your device. They are not synced, not backed up by us and not readable by us.

You can clear them at any time from Saved assets and Recent files, or remove everything at once by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Using a private or incognito window means nothing is kept once you close it.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, export and delete personal data that an organisation holds about you. We hold none, so in practice there is nothing for us to return or erase. The data described above sits in your own browser and is under your control, not ours.

Children

This site is a set of document tools with no account, no profile and no way to submit anything to us. It is not directed at children, and it collects nothing from anyone, whatever their age.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Changes that affect what leaves your device will be described in plain terms, not folded into a general update.
