A PDF editor that never uploads your file
Edit, sign, merge, split, compress and convert PDFs without sending them anywhere. All 26 tools run inside the browser tab you already have open, so your document is read, changed and saved on your own machine.
Every tool, free. No account, no watermark, no quota.
Most used
One PDF, every tool, no upload in between
Most real jobs take more than one tool. A scan has to be read before it can be searched, signed before it is any use, and squeezed before it will send. On a site that keeps your document on its own machines, each of those is a separate errand: add the file, wait for it to go across, wait for the result to come back, save it, then add that saved copy to the next tool and wait again.
Here the document is already where it needs to be. Finish one tool and the result is handed straight to the next: the same file, still in this tab, never written out to your downloads and read back in. Three tools take one pass instead of three.
One scanned contract, three tools, one pass. Nothing was sent anywhere and nothing was added twice.
Nothing is counting, either. There is no hourly job limit, no queue, no page cap on reading a scan, and no clock running out before a copy of your file is cleared off a server, because no server has a copy. The job takes as long as the job takes.
How it works
Pick the job
Open the editor for work on the page itself, or choose one of the 26 single-purpose tools from the list below.
Add your PDF
Choose a file, or drop it anywhere on the page. The browser hands the bytes straight to the tool, and no request goes out to a server.
Make the change
Type, sign, reorder, compress, convert. You work on the real pages of your own file, at full quality, with every option in front of you.
Download the result
The new PDF is assembled in this tab and saved to your downloads. Nothing is left behind on a server, because it was never on one.
Nothing is uploaded. You can check.
Every tool here runs inside this browser tab. Your file is read, changed and saved on your own device, and it is never sent anywhere.
The only things this page fetches from the network are its own code, its two fonts, and, for OCR, the language files. Open your browser's network tab while you work and you can watch this for yourself.
Try it now: press F12, open the Network tab, then run any tool on this site. You will see this page's own scripts, two fonts, and, if you use OCR, a language file. Your PDF will not be in the list.
What it costs
Nothing, and there is nothing to upgrade to. No paid plan exists here, so no feature is sitting behind one. OCR and the Office conversions are the paid tier on other sites. On this one they are simply part of the tool.
No account, no email address, no sign-in. No watermark on the file you download and no page added to it. No cap on pages, on file size, or on how many jobs you run in an hour. The one real limit is your own device: everything is held in this tab, so a very large scan on a small phone can run out of memory, and the tool will tell you so rather than ask you for money.
What you can do here
Open the editor and you can change what is on the page. Click a line of existing text to retype it, add new text wherever you want it, drop in an image or a logo, draw a shape or a freehand mark, and draw a white box over anything you would rather not show. The box covers the words without removing them, so flatten the file before you share it. When the problem is the page rather than the words on it, delete it, rotate it or insert a blank one, and use Organize to put the pages in a different order.
Fill and Sign is the same page view with a narrower job. Click into a form field and type, tick the boxes, then sign by typing your name in a handwriting face, drawing it with a mouse or a finger, or adding a photo of the signature you already use. Signatures and initials can be kept in this browser and reused, so the next form takes seconds. Flatten the result when you want the answers fixed in place.
The rest are one-job tools. Merge several PDFs into one, split one into many, pull out a range of pages, or compress a file that is too large to email. Run OCR over a scan so its text can be searched, copied and edited. Add or remove a password, stamp a watermark, put numbers or a header on every page. Convert a PDF to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG or plain text, and go the other way from Word files, images or a web page.

Questions people ask
No. The tools are code running in this tab. Your PDF is read from your disk into the tab's memory, changed there, and written back out as a download. There is no server behind this site that could receive it, which also means there is nothing for anyone to leak, hand over, or forget to delete.
It is safer than the usual arrangement, because the usual arrangement leaves a copy of your document on somebody else's machine for a while. Here the document stays on yours. The ordinary caution still applies: check the address bar says burgundypdf.com before you start, as you would on any site.
It is free, and the catch would have shown up by now if there were one. There is no paid plan to be moved onto, no trial that ends, and no feature that asks for a card. A site that never touches your files needs no file servers, so there is very little to pay for and nothing to sell you.
No. There is no sign-in, no email box and no trial. Nothing here knows who you are. The recent files and saved signatures you may see are stored by your own browser on this device, and clearing its data removes them.
No. What you download is your document with your change in it. Nothing is stamped across the pages and no extra page is added at the end.
There is no quota, no page cap and no limit on how many files you work on. The limit is physical: the whole document sits in this tab while you work, so a few hundred megabytes on a desktop is fine and the same file on an old phone may not be. If a tool runs out of room it says so and suggests splitting the file first.
You need a connection to load the page. After that, most tools keep working if you disconnect, because their code is already in the tab. Two things still want the network: OCR fetches its language data the first time you use a language, and reloading the page fetches the site again.
A scan is a picture of a page, so there is no text in it to click on. Run it through OCR first. That reads the letters in the image and adds a text layer underneath them, after which the words can be searched, copied, and edited in the editor.
